Buzz Bingo Reopens

There’s good news for UK bingo fans ahead of the festive period with the news that some of the country’s most popular bingo clubs are to reopen.

Buzz Bingo, the biggest retail bingo operator in the UK has reopened its clubs that are located in Tier 1 and 2 regions, according to the national COVID-19 restrictions. Clubs in Tier 3 regions will however remain closed for the time being.

Bingo players who visit any of the Buzz Bingo clubs will find a number of changes in accordance with the strict rules designed to keep people safe. These will include a new maximum capacity that will make social distancing possible. All clubs will feature markers on the floor, both inside and outside, in order to keep customers safe while they are queueing, and Perspex screens have been installed at key points, including reception, bar and bingo sales points, and between all machines and fixed gaming terminals in order to enable appropriate social distancing.

A portion of the seats in each club are set to be kept out of use, although there will be individual and group seating areas that will make it possible for single household customers to play together.

Additional measures include a newly designed and more frequent cleaning rota, supported by sanitising stations made available throughout the clubs so that players can keep their hands clean before touching bingo equipment or using machines. Contactless card payments will be possible up to £45 while the provision and serving of food has been reorganised so that staff can cater for customers safely. There will also be enhanced support for customers, representing an extension to the Buzz Buddies support scheme that run during lockdown to support vulnerable and elderly customers.

Speaking about the re-opening, the Chief Retail Officer at Buzz Bingo, Peter Brigden, said that they were pleased to be able to return to something like normal:

“After being closed for the last month, we are delighted to welcome back our customers and reopen our club doors in line with government guidance. The club is at the heart of the community and offers a friendly environment for households to enjoy a game of bingo.”
